Louis Blake was born January 27, 1945, in Curtis, son of Willie Lee and Flora Pennington Blake.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was a graduate of Peake High School. Although Louis had no children of his own, he played a very active role in the lives of his nieces and nephews.
Louis worked as a Deputy Sheriff in Tucson, Arizona and he retired from Tahona' Chul Park Resort. He was a faithful member of Grace Temple Baptist Church in Tucson.
He later moved back to the south and made Arkadelphia his home.
In his 65th season of life on June 29, 2010, he traded time for eternity. He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest brother, Lawrence Blake.
Those left with memories of his life are his three brothers; Willie, Jr. (Sallie) Blake of Tucson, Arizona, Donnie Blake of Dallas, Texas and Earl (Sharon) Blake of Curtis; three sisters, Julia (William) McGrew of Tucson, Arizona, Mary Mitchell of Kansas City, Missouri, and Florence (Willie) Murphy of Dallas, Texas; one uncle, Nathaniel Blake of Crossett, Arkansas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his quite strength, smile and love, but will never forget his spirit and compassion. He lived life to the fullest, and there was never a dull moment when Louis was around.
A memorial service to commemorate his life will be shared on Saturday, August 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the sanctuary of Mt. Friendship Baptist Church where Rev. Kyle Jones is the pastor elect.
Rev. Henry L. Bell will deliver a message of hope and comfort.
The committal service and final resting place will be in Curtis Cemetery.
