Alice Lillie Marie Williams

God saw Alice was getting tired when a cure was not to be. So He wrapped His arms around her, and whispered, “Alice come unto me”. She suffered it so what she went through, and so He gave her rest. God’s garden must be beautiful, He only takes the best. So when she was sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, no one could not wish her to come back, to suffer that all again. Alice Lillie Marie House Williams was born into time on August 9, 1948. She slept into the Lords embrace on Monday, November 8, 2010, at Arkansas Hospice in Hot Springs, Arkansas. She accepted Christ as her personal savior at a young age and joined Pleasant Hill AME Church in Joan. Alice grew up in th Mt. Morriah Community and attended Mt. Morriah School. Upon graduation from Peake in 1966 she continued her eudcational pursuit by attending Hendseron State University. She later joined St. Paul AME Church under the pastorate of Rev. James Thomas, III. She served faithfully as a steward, a member of the Lay organization, and the finance committee. Alice worked for Levi Struass Maunfacturing Company as a supervisor. She was active with the planning of the Peake School Reunion in its inception and was the founder of the Mt. Morriah School Reunion. After Levi Strauss closed she started her apprenticeship at Williams Funeral Home to become a licensed funeral director. On July 19, 1985, she earned and was officially recognized by the state of Arkansas as a licensed funeral director.In 1996 she became the co-owner of Williams Funeral Home. As her health begin to decline she sold her interest in Williams Funeral Home in 2008. Alice had a strong work ethic, a gentle demeanor and quiet sophistication. Those she touched knew she had a strong commitment to serve her community. A celebration of her life will be held on Friday, November 12, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul AME Church where Rev. T. W. Scott is the pastor and will officiate. Dr. James Thomas, III., the Presding Elder of the Hot Springs District will serve as eulogist. The committal service and final resting place will be at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia.
