Services commemorating the life of Anika Lock Bunch will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 15, 2022, at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, Arkansas with Rev. K.L. Jones, eulogist. Public visitation will be Sunday, August 14, 2022 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
Anika was born to the union of John Dale Wilson and Sharon D. Lock on September 19, 1974 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After her family relocated to Arkadelphia, she confessed her life to Christ and united with Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Anika attended Goza Middle School. She joined the track team and was well known for her strength and speed. Before high school, Anika returned to Milwaukee. While living in Milwaukee, she explored who she was an an artist through song, dance, poetry, and more. She was no stranger to hard work and dedication, providing a full life for her children. She enjoyed the sound of soul, rap, and country music. Some of Anika’s favorite artist were India Arie and Jaheim.
Anika didn’t run from a challenge. She was a serious debater and would do anything to prove her point. She would try her luck with different ventures, but also enjoyed the simple things in life. Her children and grandchildren were her world!
Anika transitioned from this life on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Dale Wilson and Sharon D. Lock; three children, DeAndre, DeAngela and Akina; two grandchildren, Jayd’Anne Garland, Adreya Lock; one uncle and three aunts.
Because love is more significant than death, she will be forever loved by her husband, Zandell; her children, Maritta Lock of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Shanika Bunch of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Octavia Bunch of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Kamisha Johnson of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Shayne D. Lock (Jalisa) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Sachet Humphries, Seana Humphries, Darrell Bunch and Olivia Lock all of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and India Buckley of Hot Springs, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren, Amardre Lock, Amari Lock, Amir Lock, Ivari Garland, Kehlani Jordan, Kameyah Talley, Elias Johnson, Kamorah Broandax, Seriniti Lock, Yahweh Lock and Deon Lock; step-mother, Y’vonne Mathie; seven siblings, Shauna Wilson of Hopewell, Virginia, Stephanie Moore (Nolan) of Fort Worth, Texas, Samantha Wilson of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, Shannon Lock of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Steven Wilson, Scott Wilson (Lizet) and Shane Wilson all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; like a sister, Deborah Seabrooks of Arkadelphia, Arkansas; four uncles, one aunt, closest cousins, Monique Lock and Sharon Golden as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
