Audrey Jean Thompson, a cherished soul who radiated joy and kindness to all who crossed her path, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in her hometown of Little Rock, Arkansas. She was born on October 9, 1961, Audrey's vibrant spirit touched the lives of many, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her. She was a 1981 graduate of Little Rock Central High School where she excelled as a student and played the violin in band. 

Audrey's magnetic personality and loving demeanor made her a friend to everyone she met, earning her the nickname of a 'church hopper' she moved from church, reflective of her deep connection to faith and community. Her love for music transcended genres, and her beauty and grace shone through as she pursued her passion for modeling. Known for her infectious laughter and warm heart, Audrey's presence brought light and joy to those around her.

Audrey was a dedicated home health aide and childcare provider in her professional life, using her compassionate nature to care for others in need. Breaking barriers in her industry, she was one of the first of few women to work on the maintenance crew for the Little Rock Housing Authority. She also made her mark as the first and only female maintenance crew member at Village Green, showcasing her resilience and determination in all aspects of her life.

Audrey's green thumb and love for nature were evident in the beautiful plants she nurtured and cared for, a reflection of her nurturing and gentle soul. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and strength that will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Bessie Carter; her father, Otis Thompson; her brother, Dwight Jones and her son, Andre Thompson.

Audrey is survived by her beloved son, Adrian Thompson, who will continue to cherish her memory and carry on her spirit of love and compassion; her granddaughter, Asharia J. Thompson; two sisters, Beverly Jackson and FM Thompson; one brother, Sanders “Pete” Carter; six nieces, and one nephew. She also leaves innumerable friends, acquaintances, and other family members. 

Services to honor Audrey's remarkable life and celebrate her legacy will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024, at 1st Liberty Hill Baptist Church, 2801 S. Spring Street, Little Rock. Friends and family are invited to come together to pay their respects and share fond memories of a truly remarkable woman. Family and friends are asked to wear green and white in her memory.

Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Washington, Cameron Mack, Kevin Wade, Brandon Titus, Aaron Morrison, Deketric Harper, Jr., Windell E. Gray, II., Matthew Conway, Matavius Conway, and Shun Mitchell.

Asharia and Adrian would like to express appreciation for all acts of kindness extended during this sudden loss. Special thanks to Audrey’s Army and BFF, Tenisha Clark, Michelle Harrison, Latoya K.
