Barbara Faye Giles lived the DASH; you know, that little mark between the dates of birth and death. What do I mean by that, you ask? Barbara's impact was made and measured by her living with Devotion, Awareness, Service and Humility.
Devotion. She was devoted to her family and friends, but most of all to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Barbara lived with Awareness. She was aware of those around her and sought ways to brighten their day. For instance, she was aware that an unexpected $5 surprise to an out-of-state college student would warm his heart, knowing that she and others back home were mindful of him. Service. To know Barbara is to know that she was ever ready and willing to serve. When work needed to be done, she would not hesitate to roll up her sleeves and get right to it, all without expectation of remuneration or accolades. Humility. Barbara was humble; not in the sense that she thought less of herself. Instead, she thought of herself less! She spent her energies thinking of others. Barbara was a faithful member of Mount Ephesus Baptist Church in Prescott, AR. She is sorely missed.
She leaves to cherish her in memory her mother, Mae B. Lenox, formerly of Prescott, AR; two sons, Sidney Giles (Taquila) and Jamal Johnson of Prescott, AR; five grandchildren, Adrianna Giles, Vontavia Hopper, Shatavia Hopper, Asiah Williamson, and Devin Giles; four brothers, Roger Lenox (Lori) of Dallas, TX, Sidney Lenox (Linda) of Wichita, KS, Micah Lenox (Daphne) of Norfolk, VA, and Arthur Giles of TX; four sisters, Juanita Hopson (Herman) of Prescott, AR, Clintona Giles-Peters (Larry), of Prescott, AR, Ollie F. Holtzclaw (Jeffrey), of Tyler, TX, and Glenda Lenox-Copeland (Joe) of Suffolk, VA and a host of nieces and nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church, 1000 Moore St, Prescott, Arkansas 71857.
We, the family, find peace in knowing and believing that Barbara gave her life
to the Lord many years ago.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”
