Basel Tidwell

Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” Luke 23:43

We’re all born to run a race called life. On April 29, 1929, in Rosston, Arkansas, Carl and Sylvester Evans-Tidwell gave birth to a baby boy whom they named Basel Tidwell.

As a young child, Basel accepted Christ at an early age and attend Little Caney Methodist Church in Rosston, Arkansas. He attended school at Oak Grove. Basel married Alice Wilson and this union brought one son. Later on in life, he married Estell Block. He spent his life working for Red Oliver as a truck driver hogging logs until retirement.

In his 91st season, Basel completed his race of this thing called life. He passed away in his savior’s embrace on December 7, 2020, at Southern Pine Nursing Center in Prescott, Arkansas.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, wife, son, Bennie Lee Tidwell, three sisters; Gladys Williams, Gloria Welch, and Mae Tidwell, and one brother, Ollie V. Tidwell

Basel leaves to cherish his life: one sister, Katherlean Brown of Prescott, AR; sister-in-law, Cora Mae Tidwell of Prescott, AR; three brothers, Ira D. Tidwell, John Tidwell both of Temple, TX, and Odell (Sallie) Tidwell of Rockford, IL; daughter in law Varrietta Pickens Adams of Beaumont, Tx; 6 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at Barksdale Cemetery in Rosston, Arkansas with Pastor Ivory Curry, Carrie Street Church of God officiating.
