Mr. Bennie Lee Pollins was born on July 11, 1941 to US and Verdie Mae Pollins. He was the second of their four sons. He departed this life on September 27, 2024.
Bennie attended school in Okolona, Arkansas and graduated from Simmons High School in 1961. From a young age he worked on the farm taking care of cows. In 1962 he moved to Chicago, Illinois. While there he worked in the amusement business repairing and eventually owning jukeboxes, pool tables and a variety of video arcade games. In the late 1980s he moved back to Okolona and lived out his heart’s desire when he purchased land and began raising his cows. He loved being outdoors, tending to his cows, mending fences, using his tractor to move hay and using his riding lawnmower to cut grass. His love of the outdoors also led him to accept employment at the sawmill in Beirne where he delighted in taking care of the property’s grass and banks around the pond.
Some of his greatest traits are that he was kindhearted and would often help someone in need; he was personable and loved talking to just about anybody; he had a hearty laugh; and he truly felt it was his mission and duty to give advice and lead you in the way he thought you should go…….. and his favorite advice was, “ Save your money “!
Bennie was preceded in death by his parents US and Verdie Mae Pollins and his brother Melvin Pollins.
Those left to mourn his passing are: his daughter Beverly Saffold (Jimmy) of Beaumont, CA; his grandson Jimmaré Saffold of Inglewood, CA; his granddaughter Tenesa Saffold of New Orleans, LA; his great granddaughter Maliyah Edwards of New Orleans, LA; two brothers: Bobby Pollins (Earnestine) of Bryant, AR; Jimmie Pollins (Martha) of Okolona, AR; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. Among those very close and special friends are: Earnest Bailey, Helen Pruitt, Tim Evans, Kenneth McDaniels, Alice Glenn, Otis "Sonny" Bailey, Richard Harrington and Mike McQueen. Bennie will be greatly missed by those who loved him.
