Bertha Louise Hawthorne was born into this life on January 5, 1949 in Gurdon, Arkansas to the union of Author and Fannie Bell Henderson Hawthorne.
She attended Bell High School and worked for several years at Petit Jean Poultry. She was a member of Kingdom Authority Christian Ministries. Her hobbies included shopping, evangelizing, witnessing to family, friends and strangers. Most often she would be heard singing her favorite “I’m Still Holding On.”
Bertha was an entrepreneur and had her on clothing line “Bert’s Bad Rags”. She was always stylish and loved a good pair of high-heeled shoes. She was and encourager, supporter and a true friend.
She passed from this life on Friday, February 19, 2021 at CHI St Vincent Hospital in Hot Springs. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ezekiel Hawthorne, Author Hawthorne, JR Hawthorne, Nathaniel Hawthorne, J.D. Hawthorne, Eula Quarles, Ruby Allen, Zyelpha Murphy and Louise Brown.
Bertha leaves beautiful memories with her children, Sharon Bell of Gurdon, AR, Don Accor of Malvern, AR and Terry (Kiah) Accor of Malvern, AR; her beloved grandchildren, Stanley (Tara), Antoinette (Aaron), Shunta (O’tonio), Deon (KUndra), Terry, Jr., Terrica, Chris, Don, Jr., Derion, Kira and Isaiah; and 11 great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother, Henry (Willa) Hawthorne of Vallejo, CA, as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and a very special friend Francis Williams.
A memorial service remembering her life ill be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Pavilion-Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with Rev. Quintin C. Radford, officiating.
