The sweet beautiful life of Bessie Hart came to a close on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at her home. She was born November 27, 1933 in Witherspoon, Arkansas to Walter and Nannie Newborn Garland.
Bessie accepted Christ at an early age and blossomed into a beautiful young lady. She met the handsome Jewell Arthur and a true love story began. They were married and God blessed them with twelve healthy children. They shared a love story filled with up and downs, good and bad days, love and laughter. She was a part of the generation that counted motherhood as a virtue because a mother knew the difference between a house and a home. So, her golden accomplishment in life was to make a loving home that would produce a tapestry of memories for which her family would forever cherish and relish.
After the early death of her husband, she managed to raise her children and provide for them at times exceeding the equivalent of a two-parent home. She made many sacrifices to ensure that they had food, clothing and shelter. She knew how to make ends meet and cooked the best meals from deer, coon, greens to pinto beans. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, listening to music and watching Joel Olsteen.
She never relinquished her independence and lived a modest yet full life. She lived and loved living a simple life. Always modest and humble she encouraged her children and grandchildren to be the same.
Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jewell Arthur and her children, Jewell, Jr., Eldora Juniel, Bobby and Gregory; her siblings, Gracie Williams, Mazette Garland, Mary Louise Jefferson, Clara Garland, Coddie Garland, Levi Garland, Alonzo Garland, LeRoy Garland and Evaleen Griffin.
She leaves a lifetime of memories with her children: Ronald Hart of Arkadelphia, AR, Michael Hart of Austin, TX, Russell Hart of Arkadelphia, AR, Robert Hart of Arkadelphia, AR, Bobbie Hart of Ft. Walton Beach, FL, Vera Perry of Arkadelphia, AR, Regina Hart of Arkadelphia, AR and Sam Hart of Arkadelphia, AR; seventeen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, a host of great-great-grandchildren and a sister, Faye Doris Avington of Donaldson, AR. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
