Bobby Joe Helms

On March 1, 1950, George and Callie Mitchell Helms welcomed the birth of their 4th son, Bobby Joe Helms. He confessed to Christ at an early age uniting with Shady Grove A.M.E Church in Arkadelphia, AR.

He attended and graduated from Peake High School in 1968. Bobby was employed with Shepherd Auto Sales, Fafnir Bearing, and the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department where he later retired after 25 years. 

While employed full-time, he also established his own successful heating and air business, Helms Appliance and A/C Repair, servicing Clark County and surrounding areas for over 30 years. In Bobby’s spare time, he was an Angus cattleman, he loved to raise and shoe thoroughbred horses and detail cars.

Bobby Joe Helms was united in marriage to Chaney Mae Moore Helms on November 20, 1976, where they were married for 42 years. To this union, two daughters, Roshanda and Moshelle Helms were born.

He passed away from this life on March 2, 2024, at National Park Medical Center in Hot Springs, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brothers Edward Lee, Amos, and Billy. 

Bobby leaves to celebrate his memories: his daughters, Roshanda Helms-Williams (Patrick) of Arkadelphia, AR, and Moshelle Helms of Alexander, AR. Brothers, George Helms (Madgeline) and Charles Helms (Angela), both of Arkadelphia, AR. Sister in laws, Bonnie Helms of Shreveport, LA, Josephine Moore Woods, Diane Moore, Pauline Moore, Monique Moore, and Brenda Moore all of California, Patty Moore of Broken Bow, OK, Aunt-in-law Allene Middleton of Arkadelphia, AR, one grand-dog Bronx MaRee of Alexander, AR, several nieces, nephews, cousins and great friends.

Public visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, with the service beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., officiant, and Rev. Johnny C. Harris, eulogist. The interment will be at Busy Bee Cemetery, 2198 Main Street, Eagletown, Oklahoma 74734. 

Jeff Helms, Marcus Helms, Charles Helms, Jr., Jordan Helms, James Nelson, and Fred Middleton will serve as active pallbearers.
