Bradley Jones was born on July 4, 1935 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the union of William “Bill” and Ella Mae Hogan Jones.
As a young man he was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Arkadelphia. He was a graduate of Peake High School and in 1968 he enlisted into the United States Navy. He was stationed on the USS Kitty Hawk and retired after 19 years of service.
Bradley married Ella Bailey on October 9, 1979 and to this union four children were born. He enjoyed fishing, military stories and being in the company of his family. He was a longtime employee at the Central Arkansas Development Center in Arkadelphia until his health failed.
On Tuesday, April 3, 2018 he passed into the Lords embrace at his home in Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Vera M. Helms and Mattie Newburn and two brothers, Dancy Wafford and Levi Jones.
Forever cherishing his memory are his wife; Ella Jones of Arkadelphia; four children, Stella Jones Hoxey, John Paul Jones, William Jones and Tamara Jones all of Arkadelphia; two grandchildren, Alexandria Hoxey and Rashad Jones both of Arkadelphia; and one sister, Francis J. Williams. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Public visitation will be Friday, April 13, 2017 from 12 noon until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2017 at Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Lewis A. Shepherd, Jr., eulogist. Interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery with Naval Honors.
