Charles Lewis Edwards

Charles Lewis “Buttermilk” Edwards passed away on November 25, 2021. He was the son of the late Calvin and Mary Magdalene Edwards. He was the paternal grandson of the late Josephus and Hattie Willingham Edwards. He was the maternal grandson of the late Burlie Nayles Polk and Willie “Bumblebee” Williams.

Charles was born May 27, 1944, in Camden, Arkansas, and was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church. He joined at an early age and never removed his name from the church roll. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School, class of 1963. He was a faithful and dutiful employee of General Motors where he retired after forty-nine years of service.

Buddy was preceded in death by his brother Calvin Edwards, Jr., Camden, AR; his son, Charles Lewis Edwards, Jr., Oakland, CA; a sister, Ruth Ann Harvey, Benton Harbor, MI; and a brother, Kelvin Thomas “Joe” Edwards, Antioch, CA.

Buddy leaves to cherish his beautiful and loving memories a wife, Eloise Edwards, a son, Christopher Edwards, and a granddaughter, Christen Ann Edwards that he called “Precious” all of Kansas City, KS; one brother, Larry, a devoted and loving caregiver (Laddie); a brother-in-law, Louis Harvey, Benton Harbor, MI; seven sisters: Carolyn Delois (Linny), Barbara Ann Johnson, Camden, AR; Mary Guillory, Lake Charles, LA; Brenda Edwards, a devoted and loving assistant caregiver, Marilyn Sue Edwards, Detroit, MI; Dr. Burlie Elizabeth (Michael) Hanson, DeSoto, TX; Sherry Delores Edwards, Sherman Oaks, CA; two aunts: Mary Louise Scott, Camden, AR; Linda Faye “Bumblebee” Williams, Little Rock, AR; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and the Lincoln High School Class of 1963.

Public visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 3, 20201 at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren. Services will be held graveside on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Camden, Arkansas with Dr. Derrick L. Flowers officiating.

Pallbearers will be Shawn Bradford, Rudie Galbreath, Theotis Phillips, Robert Lee Davis, Clyde McKenney and Greg Smith.
