Charles Gossett was the second child born to Joe Gossett, Jr., and Dorothy Warren Gossett on July 23, 1946. Charles became a member of Shiloh A.M.E. Church at an early age. He also attended Macedonia Baptist Church Boughton in Prescott until his death.
Charles was a 1963 graduate of Lincoln High School. He attended Trade School at A.M. & N. College in Pine Bluff, Arkansas where he completed studies as a brick mason. He worked at Firestone in Prescott, Arkansas for over 40 years until he retired.
On March 28, 1966 he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War. After returning home from the Army he married Shirley Davis in 1969 and to this union a daughter was born, Janise Gossett Walker. In January of 1976, he married Gertha “Susie” Hill and to this union a daughter was born, Teresa Gossett Jolivette.
Charles passed from this life on Saturday, September 22, 2018 in Prescott, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Dorothy Gossett; a brother, Paul Gossett and a sister, Janise Gossett.
His memory will be remembered by his wife, Gertha “Susie” Hill of Chidester, AR and their daughter, Teresa (Paul) Jolivette of Ft. Smith, AR; his bonus daughter, Jennifer (Shawn) Parker of Arlington, TX; also his daughter from his first marriage, Janise Gossett Walker of Camden, AR; three brothers, John Gossett of Camden, AR, Bill (Helen) Gossett of Okolona, AR and Ricky Gossett of Camden, AR and one sister, JoAnn (Bobby) Holliman of Chidester, AR. He also leaves four grandchildren, Ashley Hill, Matthew Hill, Ashanti Parker and Paul Jolivette, Jr., as well as, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Memorial services with military honors will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Macedonia Baptist Church Boughton in Prescott with Rev. Lonnie Hughes, eulogist. Cremation services are provided by Williams Funeral Home-Arkadelphia.
