"Charlie Boy"

Charlie Ray Young entered this world on November 13, 1957 in Gurdon, Arkansas. He was born to the late Artie Bell Young and Odie Young.

Charlie was known as "Charlie Boy" He was full of life. During his early childhood, he gave his life to Christ and united with the Spring Hill Baptist Church family in Whelen Springs, Arkansas. As years went by, he united with Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church in Prescott, Arkansas, where Rev. Cedric Sharpe is now the pastor.

Charlie loved to play football for the Gurdon Go-Devils. At the age of 19, Charlie’s world was turned upside down and he became ill, causing him not to be able to work. However, he did not give up! Charlie Boy relocated to Benton, Arkansas and his illness stayed with him until his passing on June 18, 2023.

Those awaiting Charlie Boy’s arrival are his father and mother, Odie and Artie Bell Young; five brothers, Marvell Young, Ozell Young, Alvin Young, Calvin Young, Ivory Young and an infant sister, Verdia Mae Young.

Charlie Boy leaves to cherish his memories one son, Timothy J. Young; four brothers, Eddie Lee (Maggieleaw) Young, Freddie (Glenee) Young, Rev. Charles (Delia) Young, Raymond (Diana) Young; one sister, Mary Alice Walker, and one aunt, Irene Young Hynes. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be Friday, June 23, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, Rev. Johnny C. Harris, pastor, Rev. Charles Young, eulogist, and Rev. Bobby Joe Purifoy, officiant. Interment will be at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon, Arkansas.

Active Pallbearers will be Lamar Williams, Hosea Walker, Sr., David Young, David Hardamon, Calvin Flemons, and Thomas Ollison. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfonzo Charles Young, Freddie Young, Raymond Lee Young, Brandon Young.
