David Lee “DC” Crockett was born on December 5, 1956 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the union of Benjamin Napoleon Crockett and Mary Francis Newborn. He accepted Christ and united with Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at an early age and later united with St. Paul AME Church. David was 1975 graduate of Arkadelphia High School where he played both baseball and basketball.
He served for a short term in the United State Army. David worked as a laborer on many jobs including construction, and plumbing. He worked at the bicycle factory for many years and was an expert on bicycle assembly and repair. He was an all-around handy man. He was a person who didn’t mind helping anybody. He enjoyed listening to the music; his favorite song was “In the Rain” by the Dramatics. His children were his closest friends and the greatest joys of his life.
On Thursday, July 19, 2018, David passed from this life. He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin N. and Mary F. Crockett and a brother, Charles E. Crockett (May 16, 2016).
He is survived by his children: Davida Williams (Cameron Dickerson) of Arkadelphia, AR, Diedra L. Crockett of Los Fresnos, TX, Krystal Crockett-Payne (Johnnie) of Monroe, LA and Charles Holland of College Station, TX; and eleven grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ella Summerville of Arkadelphia, AR; four brothers, Benjamin Napoleon Crockett, Jr., of Copperas Cove, TX, Isaac B. Crockett of Copperas Cove, TX, Austin W. Crockett (Jean) of Little Rock, AR, and James T. Crockett of Arkadelphia, AR. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, special friends, Bennie Hart and Leatha Bryant, as well as, other friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin N. Crockett, Isaac B. Crockett, Austin W. Crockett, James T. Crockett, Reggie Chatmon and Charles E. Reed. Active Pallbearers will be Johnnie Payne, Cameron Dickerson, James Richards, Justin Harmon, Joshua Parish and Rory McKinney.
