Dennis Karrol Avington was born April 10, 1958 in “Lick Skillet” - Witherspoon, Arkansas. He was the beloved son of Leroy Avington and Faye Doris Garland Avington. He attended Ouachita High School in Friendship, Arkansas.
He possessed a strong work ethic and worked as an independent logger with Avington Logging. He also worked as a cattle rancher with Gerald Norwood for several years.
By all accounts he was a “jack of all trades” and a skilled auto mechanic. He used his skilled hands to repair, fix and replace parts on several cars. His reputation for proficient and advice was widely known throughout Donaldson and the surrounding area. One of his greatest joys was spending memorable moments with relatives and friends, both young and old. He will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. He possessed a friendly spirit and never met a stranger. He meant what he said and said what he meant.
Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, trademark smile and sense of humor. He passed into the Lord’s embrace on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Baptist Health Medical Center in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Avington and his brother’s, Roy Luster, Lee Ivory Avington and Phillip Avington.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Fay Doris Avington of Donaldson, AR; three brothers, David Paul (Sharon) Avington of Malvern, AR, Rickey (Tina) Avington of Malvern, AR and Chris (Gayle) Avington of Witherspoon; two sisters, Linda James of Sherwood, AR and Dr. Gwendolyn Avington of Washington State; one aunt, Bessie Hart of Joan, AR. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Apostolic Faith Church in Arkadelphia with Rev. J. L. Newborn, eulogist. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
