Dennison Martell Johnson was born on September 29, 1989, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was a fun-loving and active little boy who never shied away from anyone. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a 2008 graduate of Delight High School. He was a proven athlete who played basketball and ran track. He was an excellent sprinter for the track team. He busied himself with being a class clown and building lasting friendships with other students, faculty, and staff.
Friends and family alike called him by his nickname “Denny.” By far he was one of the most popular students that walked the halls of Delight High School.
Denny was an avid outdoorsman and in his spare time, he enjoyed the company of his family and close friends. He loved mudding, back-roadin', mud wrestling, and playing endless rounds of “Pong”. He enjoyed looking good and dressing down to dredge through foliage for a better fishing spot at the water’s edge.
He loved to entertain and listen to country music. went to great lengths to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable time. He particularly loved anything competitive and the hilarious bragging rights stemming from his frequent wins.
Denny was currently enrolled in the National Park Community College Nursing program with aspirations of one day becoming a registered nurse. He also worked as a flagger for TFR Construction Company
Above all, Denny will be remembered for his unwavering commitment to friendship. He was intentional and he mastered being a true friend. Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, infectious smile, and laughter.
His life was full and he was truly sincere in heart. The memory of his existence will forever be woven into the lives of those who were blessed to know him. He leaves, to cherish his memory, his parents, Glenda Johnson, Eric ( Sylvia) Washington; one sister, Dominique Johnson; two brothers, Travon Haislia and Detavious Washington; a special aunt, Sharon Walton who raised him as her own; a special cousin, Celeste Key, and a special friend, Kendra Butler. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, cousins, and numerous friends.
Public visitation will be held on Friday, May 7, 2021, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home, 1626 Logan Street. A celebration of his life will be shared at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Delight High School Gym with Rev. Randle Key, officiating and Rev. Rufus Hatley, eulogist. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
