Dwight Jerome Govan, AKA, “Baby Boy” was born on October 26, 1969 in Arkadelphia to the union of C. V. Govan and Ruby Lee Simpson Govan.
As a little boy he accepted Christ and was baptized. He was a member of Williams Temple C.O.G.I.C. He attended school in Arkadelphia and was a graduate of Gurdon High School. Dwight worked as a utility worker with Anthony Timberlands for years. Dwight was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and he loved breeding and raising pit bull dogs.
He passed from this life on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at UAMS in Little Rock. He was preceded in passing by his parents, C. V. and Ruby Govan and three siblings, Willie Govan, Brenda Govan and Anthony Govan.
Because love is far greater than death his love will live in the hearts of his wife, Minia Turner Govan; his daughter, Dakota Dawn Cheree Govan of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Belinda Dobbins of Malvern, AR and Betty (Ricky) Craig of Sparkman, AR; four brothers, Ronnie (Coletta) Govan of Ft. Worth, TX, Ricky (Brenda) Govan of Arkadelphia, AR, Raymond (Chandra) Govan of Jonesboro, AR and Roger (Jackie) Govan of Scott, AR; aunts, Willie Mae, Charlene, Ethel, Dorothy and Lonnie; uncles, Delton and Willie, Jr. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews and cousins
Public visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. one hour prior to service time. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at St. Paul AME Church with Pastor Ronnie Govan of Transformation Christian Fellowship, eulogist. Interment at Vaden Cemetery under the direction of Williams Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Major Warrick Craig, Damien Desmont Govan, Davon Govan Rogeric Govan, Andrell Govan and LeDarius Govan.
