Flora Crayton was born on March 26, 1913 to the union of George and Anna Elliott Jamison. She united with St. Peter’s AME Church in her early years. After moving to Gurdon, Arkansas she united with Bethel AME Church where she served as a faithful member and officer of the steward board, trustee board and Sunday school until her health failed.
She enjoyed taking care of her cats Snowball and Frisky, as well as, her dog Rover. “Mama Flora” as we called her was a hard worker and always loved doing things for herself. All those years at Twin Rivers she really didn’t want anyone to make her bed for her. She would watch them the entire time and give directions.
Flora married Dave Crayton and to this union they raised two daughters. After 105 years she departed this life on Sunday, April 29, 2018 at Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitations Center in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband and six siblings.
She is survived by two daughters; Mary Henry of Arkadelphia and Gracie Warren of Detroit, MI; sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren.
