Brother Fred Porchia Jr. was born on July 29, 1939, to Fred and Francella Rhodes Porchia in Camden, Arkansas. Fred was united in holy matrimony to Cleo Easter and to this union five children were born.
At an early age, he attended East Camden C.O.G.I.C. and later attended Brown Temple C.O.G.I.C. He was a musician and singer for the gospel group The Four Kings, playing bass and lead guitar every Sunday on the radio station. He was always a great provider for his family whom he loved dearly. He worked many years at Hurley Press Printing Company in Camden as a second pressman. He also worked several other jobs including The Dallas Times as a printer.
He was multitalented and used his skills to become a self-employed carpenter, contractor, and an outstanding mechanic, which he did until his health failed. He had a brilliant mind and could accomplish anything. He showcased his talents through hunting and fishing, watched sports, and enjoyed western cowboy shows. Throughout the years studied constellations with Macon and taught his grandchildren about their ancestors.
Bro. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 57 years Cleo Porchia; his daughter, Samanthia Porchia; and his brother, Repoleon Porchia Sr.
His memories and love shown will live on through his loving children, Ella Jones, Frederick Porchia (Gail), Leotis Porchia Sr. (Sonja), and Gregory Porchia, Sr. (Vickie), all of Camden, AR; his brothers, Elder Macon Porchia Sr. (Murtice) of Wichita, Kansas and Alvin Charles Elliott (Gwen) of Pleasant Hill, MO; fifteen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren, and a host of family and friends. We give special thanks to LaKeshia Howard, cousin, and caregiver.
