A Glimpse Into Her Life

Geneva Holliman Haynie was born to the union of George Earl and Lucy Yarbrough Holliman on May 5, 1935 in Bluff City, Arkansas. Geneva was the oldest of 21 sisters and brothers.

She accepted Christ at a young age. She was raised in Bluff City, Arkansas where she attended the Upchurch School. Geneva was without a doubt a beautiful and charming young lady. She was a part of the generation that counted motherhood as a virtue because a mother knew the difference between a house and a home. So her golden accomplishment in life was to make a loving home that would produce a heart of memories for which her family would forever cherish.

Geneva was the epitome of daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, business woman, friend, aunt, matriarch, mentor, neighbor, counselor and confidante. Her doors were always open for food, fun and dancing.

She loved to be in the company of her family and friends. She opened and operated the “Wolf Man Club” in Bragg City creating a social venue where one could relax while listening to the latest tunes, play pool and dance. She loved to dance and was a part of a family dance group the “Khaki group” which consisted of herself; her daughter, Calvin Jean and son-in-law, Kermit. They were truly the life of the party.

She never met a stranger and possessed a very quiet, but powerful spirit. Her sense of style and elegance could illuminate any eye. She was a self-proclaimed “fashionista” and always took pride in looking beautiful from head to toe, which included her hair, clothes and nails.

She lived and worked for several years at the Lockheed Martin Ammunition Plant in Camden, Arkansas and after retirement she worked at a local daycare center. She later relocated to Prescott, Arkansas to be closer to her children. She united with Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Mickey Manning.

On Tuesday, June 19, 2018, she passed from this life at Hillcrest Nursing Home and Rehabilitation. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Beulah Holliman and Mary Thomas; a brother, George Holliman, III, and two grandchildren, Carlos Haynie and LaRhonda Haynie.
Forever cherishing her memory are her children: Carson Haynie, Jr. (Lana) of Prescott, AR, Nelson Haynie (Amanda) of Texarkana, AR, Genella McClanahan (Fredrick) of Prescott, AR, Lucinda Glasgow (Kermit) of Prescott, AR, Calvin Jean Zachery (Robert) of Prescott, AR, Donald Haynie of Prescott, AR, Roland Haynie of Chicago, IL, Anntionette Campbell of Alexander, AR and Edmond D. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
