Gregory O’Brian Kennedy was born in Gould, Arkansas on October 22, 1971. He was the son of the late Samuel Baker, Sr., and Stella Henderson Kennedy Snell. Gregory grew up in a loving home filled with an abundance of laughter and love.
As a child, Gregory was baptized and became a member of Union Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Gould. His family relocated to Murfreesboro, Arkansas where he attended public school. While in Murfreesboro he enjoyed playing football, basketball, and fishing.
Gregory developed a love for the sport of basketball at an early age. In 1986, the family relocated to Nashville, Arkansas where he developed into a great basketball player and made countless friends. He was affectionately called “Laker Baker” because he was the number 1 dunker on the team. He graduated from Nashville High School, class of 1991.
Gregory relocated to Malvern, Arkansas where he met Tiffany Mitchell and to this union, two children were born. Later, he met Shaundria Newborn and to this union, one child was born. His children were the love of his life!
Gregory was well known as “Montana.” He was an exceptionally good father, brother, uncle, friend, and a companion to all. He worked at Acme Brick Company. Later he moved on to work at Pactiv until his health began to fail. Gregory had numerous talents. He enjoyed playing cards, shooting dice, drawing, luxury cars, cutting hair, and listening to his favorite music artists, Scarface and Underground Kingz (UGK).
To welcome “Montana” to his Heavenly home are his parents, Samuel Baker, Sr. and Stella Kennedy Snell; god-mother, Hazel Baker-Brown; brother, Calvin “Silk-G” Kennedy; nephew, Ri’Chard “YungRich” Walker, and many other loved ones.
He leaves to cherish his life with his 2 daughters, Christian Kennedy and Tianna Rhodes; 2 sons, Jabarii La’Keith Kennedy and Jaeden Jakobie Newborn; 2 god-sons that he helped raise, Te’Ago L. Ganaway and Donovan Jackson; 5 sisters, Donna (Roy) Buckley of Arkadelphia, AR; Charlotte Kennedy of Malvern, AR; Rebecca Baker of Dumas, AR; Brandy Lawson of Pine Bluff, AR; and MarTina Baker of Texas; 14 brothers, Henry (Barbara) Rosulallah of Jonesboro, AR; Marvin (Tamie) Kennedy of Malvern, AR; Anthony Summerville of Pine Bluff, AR; Stacy Kennedy of Pine Bluff, AR; Samuel Baker, Jr. of Dumas, AR; Edwin Baker of Texas; Marqus (Chelsea) Baker of South Dakota; Orlando Baker of Hot Springs, AR; Lee Edward Summerville of Little Rock, AR; Timothy Kennedy of Little Rock, AR; Johnny Ray Kennedy of Beebe, AR; Mack (Altrice) Kennedy, Kenneth (Cynthia) Kennedy, and Antonio Duke of Little Rock, AR; 3 special adopted brothers, Macho Wilson, Michael Hopson, and Preston Hendrix; 2 special friends and mother of his children, Shaundria Newborn and Tiffany Mitchell; 1 very special great-niece that he called “The Brain”, Day’Shyia House; 1 nephew he cared for as his own, Joshua ”Diablo” Davis and Elijah “Gotti” Mayo; and a host of other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.
