Mother Irma Jean Daniels Garland traded this side of life for eternity on April 14, 2021 at Courtyard Garden in Arkadelphia AR. Irma was born November 21, 1930 to Cody and Lucy Daniels. Irma Garland was a skilled seamstress at Levi Straus, and she retired from Levi Straus November 1984. After retiring from Levi Straus, Irma became a custodian at Arkadelphia High School. Irma retired from the school system to become a volunteer Foster Grandparent. Volunteerism afforded Irma the opportunity to meet new friends, travel and enjoy new life experiences.
Irma’s Christian journey began at Piney Grove A.M.E. Church. During that time, she learned many foundational teachings that guided her through life. Irma was a 1948 Peake High School Graduate and she later attended Shorter College of Little Rock, AR. After moving to Arkadelphia, she was invited by a coworker to a revival at the Tate Temple Church of God in Christ in 1960 where she was filled with the Holy Ghost. After she was filled with the Holy Ghost, she became a loyal and faithful member of Tate Temple Church of God in Christ under the leadership of Superintendent O. N. Dennis and presently under the leadership of Superintendent LeRoy Williams. Irma served as a Dutiful Church Custodian, Local, District, State and Community Usher, Y.W.C.C. Member, Choir Member, Sunday School Teacher and Member of the Mothers Board. Irma Garland actively and faithfully attended church until her health failed.
Irma was joined in holy matrimony to Birdell Garland. From that union, they were blessed with three daughters.
Irma Garland was proceeded in death by her Husband Birdell Garland. Daughter Karen Henson. Two Grandchildren Kristian Deloach, Jacinta Henson. Four Siblings Charles “Chuck” Daniels, Ruby Daniels Williams, Cody “Sunny” Daniels and Carl “Crow” Daniels.
Irma Leaves to cherish her legacy of faith and stewardship; two Loving Daughters Jacqueline V. Garland of Sherwood AR. and Phyllis DeLoach of Arkadelphia, AR. Six Grandchildren and Thirteen Great Grandchildren. Two Loving Sisters Margret Goods of Wichita KS. and Fleecie Daniels of Los Angeles CA. A Special Nephew raised as a son Michael Hibbert Daniels of CA. and a host of Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, and In-laws.
Irma will live on in the memories of her Tate Temple Church family and many Friends of the grace of God that was in her life.

Walk-through visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, April 23, 2021 at Tate Temple COGIC. Home going services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 24, 2021 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 3163 Hollywood Road, Arkadelphia with Superintendent Darrell Marks, officiating and Superintendent Leroy Williams, eulogist. Interment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Ronny Browning, Levi Garland, Leon Johnson, Costella Goods, Shelton Davis and Ronnie Bailey will serv as pallbearers. Frank Coleman David Coleman, Phillip Wright and Michael Nelson are honorable to mention.
