Jesse C. Henson was born on October 31, 1959, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the union of Jesse and Eula Mae Reed Henson. He accepted Christ and united with Piney Grove AME Church at an early age. Jesse attended Arkadelphia High School.
Jesse married Mary L. Henson on January 7, 2017, and was blessed with a daughter, Brittany, whom he loved as his own. Although he had no children of his own, he was a father figure and role model to Darren. By all accounts he was a “jack of all trades”, he worked construction for several years, but his passion was auto mechanics and small engine repair. He used his skilled hands to repair, fix and replace parts on cars. Jesse proudly proclaimed that he was too good to be labeled as a “shade tree” mechanic. His reputation for proficient and timely work was widely known. When not working on a car he was busy with carpentry. His hobbies included working on cars, and fishing. He was his mother’s “go-to guy” and if she ever needed anything done, he would “just do it”. He was a person who didn’t mind helping anybody. He enjoyed listening to blues, and just having a good time.
Jesse was the life of the party. One of his greatest joys was spending memorable moments with relatives and friends, both young and old. He will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and friends. He possessed a friendly spirit and never met a stranger. He meant what he said and said what he meant. His natural wit and humor could never be duplicated. Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, smile, and love, but will never forget his spirit and compassion. He passed from this life on Friday, August 4, 2023, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse Henson. and his brother Charles Henson (July 4, 2020).
Jesse leaves a lifetime of memories with his wife, Mary Henson of Little Rock, AR; his son, Darren Guinn, Jr., and his daughter, Brittany Wilson of Little Rock, AR; his mother, Eula Mae Henson of Arkadelphia; 10 grandchildren, four sisters, Linda F.
