John Earl Melbert

John was born August 28, 1949, in Oakdale, Louisiana to Gus Melbert Jr., and Beatrice Walker Melbert. He attended Allen High School in Oakdale and worked as a carpenter. 

He later moved and settled in Seattle, Washington with his wife, Octavia Melbert of 40 years who preceded him in death. While in Seattle he worked maintenance in a healthcare facility until he retired.

John enjoyed  fishing, cooking, spending time with his family laughing and making jokes. In his 75th years he made his transition peacefully in his sleep.

John is preceded in death by his parents, Gus Melbert Jr., Beatrice Walker Melbert; two brothers, Charles Melbert, and David Melbert; two sisters, Sylvia Holloway, and Mary Melbert Ceaser; grandparents, Gus Melbert Sr., and Mary C. Melbert; Bessie Walker Hood of Columbus, Georgia; four aunts and two uncles.

He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Chad Melbert, Travis Melbert and John Melbert, Jr., and one daughter; two sisters, Linda Johnson, and Patricia (Patrick) Brown; three brothers, Taron Melbert, Robert Walker, and Arthur Holloway; his bonus children, Dimitri Franks Kora (Kebba), Cynthia Gradney, Michael Paul Gradney, Robert Frank, Jr.,  an uncle Roy Melbert, Sr., (Barbara), as well as, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
