Larry “Lucky” Hunter was born to the union of Aaron and Mary Stitt Hunter on November 6, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Larry is a 1975 graduate of Gurdon High School. He attended Red River Vo-Tech, obtaining the skills of Masonry. Larry was a skilled laborer for the railroad and truly enjoyed working with his hands.
In his spare time, Larry enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, cooking, and hunting. He also took pleasure in listening to gospel music and the sounds of Earth, Wind & Fire. He enjoyed watching basketball and football, with the Pittsburgh Steelers being his favorite team. He gave his life to Christ and was a member of Ronoake Baptist Church. Larry married Anita on April 12, 1983, and born to this union were two children.
Larry departed this life to live eternally with his heavenly Father on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Baptist Health Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Aaron, and Mary Stitt Hunter; three sisters, Liz Johnson, Carolyn Marks and Judy Houston; four brothers, Bennie Hunter, Billy Joe Hunter, David Hunter and Freddie Hunter.
He leaves not to mourn, but to cherish his fond memories his five children, Byron Hunter of Sacramento, CA; Asia Walker of Little Rock, AR; Shelby (Kieyarra) Hunter of Gurdon, AR; Keyshuna Walker of Little Rock, AR; and Tamara Hunter of Houston, TX; six grandchildren; one sister, Sharon Blake of Caddo Valley, AR; one brother, Aaron Hunter, Jr. of Puyallup, WA; as well as numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be shared with family and friends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church in Gurdon with Rev. Rufus Hatley, as the eulogist. The public may pay respects on Friday, October 13, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. The family will greet and receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. The interment will be at Shady Grove Cemetery in Beirne, Arkansas.
