Lee Kennel, Jr. passed away on October 17, 2024, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, at the age of 69. Known to many as "Dog Pound," he loved the life that he lived and lived the life that he loved.
Born on February 22, 1955, in Gurdon to the union of Lee Kennel, Sr., and Jerline Gamble Kennel, Lee was a familiar face in the community and had a knack for diffusing tensions with his calm presence and strength. Being a member of First Memorial COGIC and occasionally attending Mt. Canaan Baptist Church, he was rooted in his faith.
He attended Bell High School in Gurdon. “Dog Pound” drove trucks for several years with Kennel Trucking. He had a passion for sports, particularly basketball and football, and found joy in the music of Frankie Beverly/Maze, Snoop Dogg's 1993 album Doggystyle, and Usher.
“Dog Pound” had a charming demeanor that made him no stranger to those he met. He prided himself in being a ladies’ man. He was the go-to person whenever conflicts arose, always there to mediate and bring about peace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L. E. Kennel (December 25, 1986) and Jerline Gamble Kennel (September 25, 2012); his son, Lee Andra” Barnes (October 12, 2022); his sister, Wanda Sue Jones (July 11, 2022) and his brother, Alvin Williams.
