Logan Williams

Logan Morgan Williams was born the in Arkadelphia, Arkansas on October 22, 1945. He was the 13th child of 15 children born to Roy and Elosie Holmes Williams. Logan was nicknamed “LM” by his brothers, sisters and friends who know him. He attended Peake High School and was a member of St. Paul A. M. E. Church during that time.

After his father’s passing in 1960, the Williams family moved to Compton, California where he graduated from Compton High School in 1963. After high school he enlisted in the United States Army and was a part of the medical core as a medic. During that time, he developed an interest in the medical field. He served most of his service in Germany and was honorably discharged.

He returned to the Los Angeles area and was employed at the United States Postal Service. He then had a great opportunity to work for Cedar Sinai Medical Center. It was there that he had a longstanding career where he held various positions, eventually becoming an administrator. He retired as Director of Community Services and Events.

Logan was selected as one of the Outstanding Young Men of American and his achievements was published in the 1980 edition of this publication. The edition highlighted the achievements of thousands of young men who are, by their contributions to community and profession, shaping the future of our nation. These are young men who give quietly and unselfishly that the quality of all lives may be improved.

He was well loved and appreciated for the work he did throughout the community. Logan was always stylish and professional. In his spare time, he enjoyed the company of his family and close friends. He loved to entertain family and friends at his home in Los Angeles, always offering the best to those who were in his company. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, but he loved to fish. He was competitive and particularly loved the competition associated with fishing, cards, and the hilarious bragging rights stemming from his wins and catching the most fish and largest fish.

Logan was truly a “one-of-a-kind” guy who will be missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him. He passed at the age of 79 in his home on Monday, November 25, 2024. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Eloise Williams; brothers, Roy Williams Jr., James Williams, U.S.P. Williams, Johnny Williams, Benjamin Williams, Rev. F. R. "Rixie" Williams, Tyrannus Williams and Tyree Williams; sisters, Ethel Williams-Shaddock, Katie Williams-Gray, Earl Lee Williams-Fisher, Patricia Williams-Fisher, Creasie L. Pennix and Annie E. Williams-Helms.

Memories of Logan will be cherished by his brothers, Joshua Williams and Charles Ray (Tara) Williams of Arkadelphia, Arkansas, and Tommy (Wanda) Williams of Lynwood, California; his sister, Veronica Easter of Meridian, Mississippi; and a sister-in-law, JoAnn Williams of Los Angeles, California. He also leaves a cadre of nieces, nephews; innumerable great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, colleagues and the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center family.

Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 28, 2024, at Williams Funeral Home. Interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery.
