Th sweet life of Loreatha came to a close on Friday, February 21, 2020 with her family by her side. She lived a full promised life of 73 years. She was born into this life on January 19, 1947 in Sparkman, Arkansas to the union of Fred and Nancy Dunn Halton.
Loreatha united with First Missionary Baptist Church as a little girl and remained a life-long member. Her dedication and service was evidenced by her serving as the former youth director, a member of the choir, announcement clerk, with the WMU and as a deaconess.
She was a 1964 graduate of the Sparkman Training School. She loved attending the school reunions, catching up with friends and family all while reminiscing about the way things “used to be.”
She met the handsome George Eason and they were married on April 16, 1977. Their union was blessed with three handsome sons Jeremy, Lavar and Darrian. She enjoyed cooking and was an impeccable housekeeper. She always welcomed friends and family into her home. She worked for several years at the Arkadelphia Human Development Center. Some of her favorite pastimes include listening to music, working puzzles; she mastered Chinese checkers to the point where she played against herself.
She was preceded in death her parents, Fred and Nancy Dunn Halton; her beloved husband, George Eason (May 1, 2000); five sisters, Rosebud Halton (1955), Eloise Harrison (2001), Roxie Bateman (2002) Verlee Austin (2012) and Eddie Mae Halton (2018); four brothers, Horace Halton (2004), Joe Halton (2009), H. B. Halton (2017), and Freddie Halton (2018).
Her life was full and she was truly sincere in heart. The memory of her existence will forever be woven into the lives of her two sons: Jeremy D. Todd, Sr., of Sparkman, AR and Lavar Eason of Arkadelphia, AR; Darrian Eason of Milwaukee, WI whom she loved as her own; one grandson, Jeremy D. Todd, Jr., of Las Vegas, NV and one sister, Maelean Harrison of Arkadelphia, AR; her brothers-in-law, Tom (Pat) Eason of Milwaukee, WI, Steve Eason of Sparkman, AR, Felix Eason of Little Rock, AR, Edward (Roz) Eason of Sparkman, AR, and William Bateman of Pine Bluff, AR; her sisters-in-law, Earnestine Halton of Oakland CA, Teresa Halton of Malvern, AR, Mildrene Paden and Merylene Williams both of Sparkman, AR, Ruby Dawn and Naomi Eason both of Arkadelphia, AR. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, special friends, Pat Utley, Jolene Green and Edna Hunter, other friends and the First Missionary Baptist Church Family.
A celebration of her life will be shared at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 29, 2020 First Missionary Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas. Rev. L. A. Craig will officiate and Rev. Shadrach Porchia will serve as eulogist. Interment will be in Sparkman Community Cemetery.
