Lynn A. Jackson

Lynn Alexander Jackson, who left us on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at the age of 91 was born on July 7, 1933, in Dallas County, Arkansas. He was the beloved son of Dossie Jackson and Gertrude Quarles Carter. Lynn was a devoted son, brother, husband and father.

He attended the Dalark Rural School and at the age of 23 on June 1, 1953, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged on April 23, 1955, and returned to Arkansas. As an Army veteran, Lynn served his country with honor and pride, embodying the values of duty and resilience.

He began working at Acme Brick company and during that time he met the lovely, Margarine Williams. Their courtship blossomed into marriage on August 6, 1960. Their union was blessed with 4 children Barbara, David, James and Willie.

Lynn a cherished member of the Arkadelphia and Dalark community was a man of faith and service, actively involved with Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Dalark. His dedication to the church was evident in his roles as a trustee, assistant Church School superintendent, Adult Sunday school teacher, church treasurer, organizer of the Lay, treasurer of the Sons of Allen, and treasurer of the building fund committee. He also served as the Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church Pre-Homecoming Social Activities Chairperson and was awarded the Mt. Olive Father of the Year in 2011 and the Hot Springs/Arkadelphia District Legacy of Leadership Honoree in 2019. He touched the lives of many with his kindness and commitment to the mission of the church.

Lynn was known for his hard work at Busch Construction where he earned the respect of his co-workers and supervisors. Outside of work, he had a passion for the great outdoors, he was an avid gardener who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he found joy in the stories of his favorite Western television shows, including Bonanza, Gun Smoke, and Rifleman. He also served as the treasurer of the Houston-Turner Cemetery Committee. He was well-known for his hats and caps that were the final touch on his way to church on Sundays.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Lynn Jackson (2020); a granddaughter, Katrina Davis (2021), and siblings, Robert L. Jackson and Helen Jackson Rogers.

He leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love - a true testament to a life well-lived. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of his wife, Margarine Jackson of Arkadelphia; his children, Barbara Delamar of Little Rock, AR, James Jackson and Willie Douglas Jackson both of Arkadelphia, AR; five grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. He also leaves two brothers, James C. (Ann) Jackson of Plano, TX, and Anthony Jackson of Houston, TX; two sisters, Earnestine Jackson-Strickland of San Antonio, TX and Marilyn Jackson Smith of Warren, AR; a sister-in-law, Mary Tate of Chicago, IL; several nieces, nephews, special cousins, Ann, Joyce, Robert, Ronie, Randy, Herbert, Jr., Quincy, Dorothy Nell and Cathy, other relatives and friends.

Friends and family are invited to gather and celebrate Lynn’s life, sharing memories and honoring a man who gave so much to his community and loved ones. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at Mt. Olive A.ME. Church with Rev. Theresa Ngantchie. The interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be Friday, December 20, 2024, from noon until 6:00 p.m. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Robert Reed, Wesley Wright, Keyon Starks, Brandon Johnson, Jerel Yarber and Kendall Quarles. The honorary pallbearers will be Albert Neal, Bob Neal, Carl Cooks, Charles Whitaker, Claude Delamar, Jr., Daryl Ford, Louis Ankton, and Michael Jones.

Lynn Jackson leaves behind a legacy of faith, hard work, and love—a true testament to a life well-lived. His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him.
