Martha Ann Boyers was born in Des Moines, IA on May 10, 1960 to the proud parents of Orifice Ralph Boyers III., and Girlena Nelson Carter.
Martha accepted Christ at a young age and was a member of Mt. Pleasant AME Church in Pine Bluff, Ar until she relocated to Bearden, Ar and later became a member of Macedonia AME Church. During her time as a faithful member and servant she served as Sunday school teacher, Steward, and assistant youth director.
In 1979 Martha graduated Dollarway High School and went on to further her education at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff (UAPB) where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Special Education. She was employed with Bearden School District for 33 years until retirement.
Martha Ann was a rare “rich gift” who inspired everyone who crossed her path. She possessed her own style and loved music, particularly gospel and the blues. After she retired, she would spend countless hours watching Judge Judy and scrolling on Facebook. She was the ultimate fan of her grandchildren and was their biggest cheerleader.
After 60 seasons of life Martha answered God’s call on Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at her home in Bearden. She was welcomed home by her parents; two sisters, Wonetah Nelson Powell and Lola Rice; and two brothers, Johnny Caradine and Orifice R. Boyers, III. Martha leaves behind grateful children, Quincy (Nikesha) Lee of White Hall, AR, Marcie Shorter and Ebony Shorter both of Bearden, AR; three adored and much-loved grandchildren, Keshawn Lee, Jaylah Williams and Sydney Lee. Aside from her children and grandchildren, she is survived by three sisters, Florastine Rumley of Des Moines, IA, Lena Einfeldt of Hollywood, FL and Margaret Carter of Des Moines, IA; numerous loving nieces, nephews, Special Friends Carolyn Berry and Linda Rogers and the Macedonia AME Church family. She will be missed by many former students, colleagues, friends, and neighbors who were fond of her friendliness and loving demeanor.
Public visitation will be Friday, April 30, 2021 from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home Van Buren, 119 Van Buren Street in Camden.
