The life of Mary Kay Bolton came to a close on Monday, February 19, 2024, at her home with  her family by her side. She was 75 years old. Mary Kay Bolton was born on December 3, 1948, in  Richton, Mississippi to James W. Brown and Marie Brown. She was the third oldest child and accepted Christ at an early age while attending New Hope Baptist Church.

She grew up in Richton, Mississippi with her three sisters. She graduated from Mattie Wayne Jones School. While attending she was recognized as “Ms. Basketball Player” for three consecutive years. She later attended Prentiss Jr. College where she met the love of her life, Haywood Bolton, Jr., whom she later married in 1969. This union was blessed with six beautiful children.

Mary Kay Bolton loved her family and was known for her cooking. Lemon filling cake and gumbo were her specialties. Mary Kay Bolton loved Christ. She was an avid member and deaconess at Mt. Canaan Baptist Church alongside her late husband, Haywood Bolton, Jr. She had a smile that can turn a frown upside down, a heart of gold, a hug that gave love and a soul from God above.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James W., and Marie Brown; her beloved husband, Haywood Bolton, Jr., and two sisters, Doris Thompson, and Delois Dew.

Mary Kay leaves beautiful memories in the hearts of her children, Yvette Lacy (David), Sharita  Bolton (Frankie), Tesha  Bolton, Haywood D. Bolton, Kevin Bolton, and Karen Bolton (Ulysses); 14 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. She also leaves a loving sister, Jackie Jackson (Julius); three sisters-in-law, May Moody (Levertte), Glenda Bolton and Sharon Washington   (Travis); two brothers-in-law, Rev. Bobby Ray Bolton, and Larry Bolton. She also leaves a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

A celebration of her life will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Beaumont, Mississippi, with Rev. Bobby Ray Bolton, eulogist. The interment will be at Bolton Cemetery in Beaumont, Mississippi.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as active pallbearers. Honorable to mention are sons-in-law and brothers-in-law.
