Roosevelt Martin, Jr.

Roosevelt Martin, Jr., was born on March 22, 1937 in Willisville, Arkansas to the union of Roosevelt Martin, Sr., and Jewel Celeste Ross Martin.

He based a full-time commitment to saturate himself in the word. His studies included Philander Smith College, Little Rock, AR (B.A., 1960), University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN (post-graduate), University of New Mexico, Albuquerque, NM (M.M. ED, 1963), Sacred Heart School of Theology, Milwaukee, WS (M. Div.1988) and Peake High School (1955).

Fr. Roosevelt Martin, Jr., served as a priest at the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston in Texas.

Roosevelt passed from this life on November 9, 2021. He will be missed by the countless friends who described him as charismatic, loyal, dependable and forthright.

He leaves his sister, Carolyn Martin of Dallas, TX; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews, other relatives, and special friends, Mary Webber of Minneapolis, MN, Thelma Harris of Cilver City, CA, Carmen Hernandez of Sugarland, TX and Al and Beth Liekhus of Minneapolis, MN.

Public visitation will be Friday, November 12, 2021, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be held graveside on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Arkadelphia.  

Pallbearers honorable to mention are his nephews, Ivory James Martin, Hershel Duane Martin, Sumner Jackson, Andre Arnold and Rev. Steven Beasley, Sr.
