Roy A. Pollins was born in Gurdon, Arkansas, on June 15, 1948 to Clayton and Erma Key Pollins. He was a former employee at the Beirne Sawmill. He was a member of New Bethel Church in Gurdon, Arkansas.
He was unique and did things his way. His favorite song was the Christmas holiday version of “Silent Night” by the Temptations. He loved that song anytime of the year.
Roy was the life of the party. He was unassuming; always saying what he meant and meaning what he said. He enjoyed sports and would spend countless hours watching karate movies. His greatest pastime was picking up and recycling cans.
Roy passed from this life on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas.
His life was full and he leaves memories with his wife of over 30 years, Marilyn Pollins of Gurdon, AR; his children, Anthony, Sr. (Melissa) Pollins of Jarrell, TX, Roy, Jr., (Gwen) Pollins of Hendersonville, NC, Stacy (Sibil) Pollins of Cedar Park, TX, Greg (Cheryl) Pollins of Hope, AR, Victoria (Levert) Valrie of Hot Springs, AR, Jerome (Meechie) Pollins of Gurdon, AR, Latasha Pollins of Gurdon, AR, Markell Pollins of Gurdon, AR, Lola (Ronnie) Hamilton of Texarkana, AR; one sister, Quarlee “Sweet Thing” Turner of Gurdon, AR; 24 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Private graveside services will be held at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon. Pallbearers will be Adrian Pollins, Quintin Pollins, Roy Pollins, III., Savion Polllins, Chad Pollins and Derrick Pollins. Honorary pallbearers will be Anthony Pollins, Roy Pollins, Stacy Pollins, Greg Pollins, Jerome Pollins and Markell Pollins.
