Ruel Lee White, Jr.

June 22, 1964 — July 31, 2020

Ruel Lee White, Jr. was born into this life on June 22, 1964 in Hope, Arkansas. He was the third child born to Ruel L. White, Sr., and Ruth Lee Bailey White. His parents taught him self-respect and respect of others.

He accepted Christ at a young age. Later in life he united with Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ron Browning. He was 1982 graduate of Arkadelphia High School where he excelled as a student and showed tremendous enthusiasm in sports. He was a part of the team that won the 1979 State Championship.  He always busied himself building lasting friendships with other students, faculty and staff. By far he was one of the most popular students that walked the halls of Arkadelphia High School.

“Fella” was a real reflection of character and personality. He was a great source of inspiration and that kind of friend that could take you to great levels. His energetic personality and his giving nature were a magnet for those who wanted his energy to rub off on them. Friends, like Ruel are rare are irreplaceable.

He married Shirley Browning in July 1986 and two this union two daughters were born RaShonda and Breanna. Although their marriage would end, they remained great friends and provided a wealth of support for their daughters and grandchildren. He was overjoyed with being a grandfather.

Ruel worked for Lane Refrigeration for several years which allowed him to travel and wherever he went, he left his mark. He was a hard, dedicated and dependable employee.  “Fella” enjoyed sports, and horse racing. Oaklawn Race Track was his playground. He was widely known for tips on how things worked and his knowledge that ensured his bet on a horse was good. He perfected betting on horses in his own way, other than being a little bit of fun, he always tried to give himself the best chance of success and not simply take a guess.

Family, as well as friends, will miss his strength, laughter and love, but will never forget his spirit. He was preceded in death by his father, Ruel Lee White, Sr., and his brother, Eric White.

His life was full and he was truly sincere in heart. The memory of his existence will forever be woven into the lives of his daughters, RaShonda A. Raheem (Jameel A. Rheem) and Breanna White with special friend Henry Harper; his beloved mother, Ruth Lee Bailey White; four grandchildren, Sabriyah A. Raheem, Landen Harper, Sanari A. Raheem and Kylan Harper; sisters, Sandra Jackson, Bridgette Welch (Gordon Welch) and Jackie Bragg (Frederick Bragg); and his sister-in-law, Jenetta White. He also leaves several aunts, uncles, several cousins, numerous friends, and special friends, Kevin Barton, Eldridge Jones and Ronnie Bailey (special cousin/friend).
