Sheldon Davis

October 8, 1963 — January 5, 2025

Arkadelphia, Arkansas

Sheldon Davis, a beloved son, husband, father, brother, and friend, peacefully passed away from this life on Sunday, January 5, 2025. He was born on October 8, 1963, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Fred and Annie Pearl Watkins Davis.

He accepted Christ at an early age at Piney Grove AME Church and grew up in Arkadelphia and where he had made countless memories and cherished connections throughout his life. Sheldon was a 1982 graduate of Arkadelphia High School where he played football.

Sheldon married Rosia Allen and to this union a daughter was born, Alexandra. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he took immense pride in their achievements and happiness.

Shortly after high school on July 3, 1982, he started a life-long forty plus year career with Acme Brick until his passing. He was a devoted employee where he served as a Kiln Fireman and proudly participated as a member of the union. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident each day. Outside of his professional life, Sheldon found joy in the simple pleasures—whether it was meticulously maintaining his yard or enjoying classic horror movies, while driving often listened to the rhythm of his favorite radio station, 94.9 FM, playing in the background.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Rosia Davis; his daughter, Alexandra Davis; his mother, Annie Pearl Davis; and his siblings: Joyce Williams, Windy (Marvin) Miller, Judith Davis, Darryl Davis, and Camille Davis; his bonus children, Xzavion Williams, Ja’Shua Owens, and Trinity Owens. He also leaves nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own, cousins as well as special friends, Tim Clark, David Brooks, Jonathan Hill, Tony Skeens, John Pitts, the Acme Brick and Group Living Families.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life at Greater Tate Temple COGIC on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 11:00 am, with Superintendent LeRoy Williams, eulogist and Superintendent Robert Davis, officiating. Interment will be at Piney Grove Cemetery.

As we prepare to say goodbye, we invite all who knew Sheldon to join us in celebrating a life well-lived, marked by love, laughter, and a steadfast commitment to family and friends. He will be missed but never forgotten. Memorials can be sent in Sheldon’s memory to Greater Tate Temple COGIC.

Active pallbearers will be Tim Clark, David Brooks, Jonathan Hill, Patrick Williams, Charles “Wayne” Allen, Xzavion Williams, Ja’Shua Owens, and Tony Hogan. Honorable to mention are Roosevelt "Chuck" Davis, Victor Bryant, Sr., Reginald Bryant, Trent Bryant, Tyson Davis, Dorwin Davis, Jordan Williams, Jarred Williams, his friends and co-workers at Acme Brick.
