Sylvia Jean Holloway was born into this life on October 1, 1937 in Columbus, Georgia. She was the oldest child of ten born to Beatrice Walker Melbert and Nathaniel Holloway.
Sylvia with her two children moved to Detroit. There she met and married Alonzo Fleming and to this union five children were born. In 1977 she started a career in the Detroit Public School System until her retirement in 1987
She moved to Arkadelphia in 1990 and was a member of Gennesaret Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an usher and a member of the choir. She later united with Mt. Morriah Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Vernon Moody. She worked a Foster Granparent with the CADC.
Sylvia made her transition in Taylor, Michigan on February 10, 2019. She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice Melbert; three grandchildren, Dominique, Breanna, and Brandon Brown, and one brother, Charles Melbert.
Sylvia Jean leaves to cherish her memory six daughters; Sybol Holloway (David), Josella Holloway Williams (Rodrick), Linda Oliver (Lance), Tracy Fleming, Rose Pogue (Dennis) and Bertha Matthews; one son Kim Holloway; five brothers, Arthur Holloway, John Melbert, David Melbert, Tyrone Melbert and Robert Walker; three sisters, Linda Johnson (Lee), Mary Ceasar (Andrew) and Patricia Brown (Patrick); 18 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and a host of bonus children, nieces and nephews.
