Willie C. Govan was born on Feb. 19, 1951 and transitioned from this life into eternity on Jan. 28, 2018 at his home in Rockford IL with his soulmate, his children, his Sister, and his brother by his side.
Willie was born in Vaden, AR and attended school in Gurdon, Arkansas at Gurdon High school, where he graduated and went into the military. He was an honorary veteran and served his country well. He loved motorcycles, snow mobiles, and just about anything with a motor on it. Willie later served as a truck driver and hauled logs. He also drove dump trucks locally.
He moved to New York where he served as a security police for the New York City Subway System. He loved gardening and growing his own vegetables.
Willie Married Valeria Wright and to this union three children were born. He and Valeria resided in Sparkman, Arkansas where they bought their first home. He later moved to Rockford Illinois, where he met his love, Connie Davis and he settled in Rockford for the next 29 years. He became a retired and disabled veteran. He loved working around the house and fixing stuff at home and had an independent salvage business on the side.
Willie would love to travel home during his vacation to spend time with his siblings and other family members. When Willie would come home, he enjoyed being driven around by his family members so that he could see everyone. Spending time with family was a special gift for Willie! He was definitely an outdoor man, whereby he loved to fish, hunt, and play dominoes under the family tree. One of his biggest attribute was his loud booming voice. He knew he could talk and loved conversing with everyone. Willie never met a stranger.
He has joined his mother, Ruby; his dad, C.V.; Brother Anthony, and his Sister Brenda all in their heavenly Home as they proceeded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his soulmate of 29 years Connie Davis; his children: Leland Govan in Las Vegas, Nevada; Leantowin Govan in Hot Springs, Arkansas; and Latrena Govan, who also resides in Hot Springs, AR. He leaves his siblings: Betty (Ricky) Craig, Sparkman, AR; Ronnie (Coyletta) Govan, Ft. Worth TX; Ricky (Brenda) Govan, Arkadelphia; Raymond (Chandra) Govan, Arkadelphia, Arkansas; Roger (Jackie) Govan in Scott, AR; and Dwight (Mena) Govan, Malvern AR.
